   I was looking for a particular Handel track performed by Dame Janet Baker (Dopo Notte, from Ariodante) and found it on this CD collection. It is a wonderful compilation of some of her classic recordings – from Handel to one of Elgar’s Sea Pictures (which are rarely found these days).

   I bought this mainly for “When I am laid in earth”, which is wonderful, but the other pieces in the collection are also good. I particularly like “Where corals lie”, which I had not previously heard. If you are looking for a “collection” then you will not be disappointed.
