Patchy and inconsistent,
This book is written by multiple authors with only a cursory preface by Donald Trump. While there is always something to be gained from the assertions of people who’ve made money themselves, it really doesn’t hang together.
Subtitled “Your First 90 Days on the Path to Prosperity”, the book actually is nothing of the sort. What does the 90 days refer to? An action plan? (It doesn’t contain one…) The time it takes to read it? (You’d have to read pretty slowly…)
It contains advice from the plain silly (get a cleaner) to contradictory (which is the best way to make money? Running your own business? The stock market? Through real estate? All three cases are argued here by people who all think their way is “best”) to actually quite useful, if obvious (envisioning what you want helps you get it). Finally, there is a big section on protecting your wealth, which is very US-biased, something a UK reader can’t really blame the book for.
As an airport buy this book passes muster, but I wouldn’t seek it out.

Good business lessons,
Donald Trump came from a family that had money, but his success surpassed that of his father. He was even bankrupt once and came out of it stronger than ever. There must be something that he does right because his name is a household name. I found this book very useful because it teaches you not only the real estate business, but business in general. It talks about the proper mental attitude, how to deal with people, and how not to be afraid to fail. The author says that many people are afraid to fail, so they never try, and this is a formula for failure.
Trump says that in order to be successful you need to develop 12 skills: 1) get passionate, 2) be tenacious, 3) think big, 4) leverage knowledge, 5) be thorough, 6) take action, 7) take risks, 8) know your audience, 9) learn to negotiate, 10) listen to your gut, 11) enjoy competition, and 12) be your own best asset.
