Insurance does not replace heirlooms.

SF Homes are the best investment…until the next big earthquake…
I’ve been following Warren for over 20 years now and even when everyone thought he was wrong (COUNTLESS TIMES), I have all the magazines at home to prove it, he has never been wrong when it comes to investing. I remember when he stopped buying tech stocks and the entire investment world said he is out of touch and was no longer relevant. I’ve seen this happen with him many times and so far he is batting a thousand. He does freely admit hos own personal mistakes, but not when he gives advice.
– Correct me if I’m wrong but don’t banks still make a profit from you if they’re stuck with a low interest loan? So are they really stuck with something? Where I live in the US banks can just sit on vacant houses, even in this economy they refuse to sell them and neighborhoods are going down because of squatters. I wish they would sell…
Equities/ Single Family Home CHEAP? TALK IS CHEAP & I Aint Buying.
“If I had a way to manage them.” He’s right, good Property Management is the essential key to owning investment homes. Think of the amount of due diligence you would use on a baby sitter, that’s how you should treat finding the right property manager. Diversification in different markets is the best strategy. Notice he didn’t say condos, town homes, or multi-units. SF homes have historically appreciated the best over time, have little to no HOA’s, and generally attract a higher quality tenant.
He says…A way to short the dollar. You can take a 30 year mortgage (available only in the US you know) and if it turns out your interest rate is too high next week you can refinance lower and if it turns out it is to low the other guy is stuck with it for 30 years. (if you did not know, the other guy is the BANK!!) (That is why other countries don’t issue 30 year mortgages, it’s crazy) – dg
When the “Oracle of Omaha” offers investment advice, it’s worth a listen…
