Mixture of music arrangements to suit most tastes,
The CD starts off with the massed bands playing Rule Britannia which whilst not outstanding is a pleasent addition to your music collection.
Showers of gold (track 2) is excellent, Roger Webster gives an excellent performance with backing from BBS.
Tribute to Ted Heath is my least favourite track on the CD and as a result I marked the whole CD down. Still if you are prefer swing band music, this is the track for you.
Track 4 (Deep inside the sacred temple) is a moving euphonium duet that is relaxing, just play it in the car in a traffic jam.
Triumphant Rhapsody, this is on many CDs and the massed bands reproduction is a fine example of Vinters arrangement.
Energy (track 6) is a strange track and can’t help but think the composer wrote it for a black and white film. Well played but not a personal favourite.
I do not like track 7 as it has no clear mellody that I can fathom out and I usually skip to the next track!
The British Tuba Quartet does a fine job of playing Pop Suite, the recording is a little dull but a fine track.
David of the white rock (track 9) reminds me of a hymn at the start but builds into a powerfull piece before fading. A nice piece that I wish was longer.
The final track (track 10) is the excellent Ouverture Solennelle. You will instantly recognise it, whilst I can’t remember where from, it sounds like the sort of music played at Royal weddings (probably due to it being composed by Tchaikovsky). This is from the 1812 overture and I the more I hear it, the more I enjoy it.
