Powers Series Artistic Director Bill Laufer announced today that popular Italian Maestro Domenico Boyagian will team up on Saturday May 8th with the dynamic 17 year-old, Grammy nominated violinist, Caroline Goulding for a wonderful evening of classical and pops music at the magnificent, historic Saint Ann Church in Cleveland Hts, OH.

Boyagian, the Saint Ann Orchestra Music Director, will be back for this second in the Powers Concert Series presentations. Born and raised in Bologna, Italy, Mr. Domenico Boyagian began his music studies at the age of 7. At the age of 15, he won first prize in his class in piano performance at the “Conservatorio G. B. Martini” in Bologna, where he earned his first music degree. He holds Master of Music in Orchestral Conducting from the Cleveland Institute of Music and a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from California State University, Northridge and the “Conservatorio G. B. Martini” in Bologna, Italy. He has studied with Carl Topilow and Louis Lane. He has also worked with several distinguished mentors, including Michael Tilson Thomas, Larry Rachleff, Alexander Mickelthwate, Gianluigi Gelmetti and Donald Portnoy.

Featured soloist Caroline Goulding is no stranger to the concert stage and has performed with The Cleveland Orchestra, The Cleveland Pops Orchestra, The Detroit Symphony, the Cincinnati Pops, the Buffalo Philharmonic, Sinfonia Gulf Coast, the Atlantic Classical Orchestra, the Aspen Concert Orchestra and the International Symphony Orchestra. Goulding’s recently completed CD entitled Caroline Goulding received a Grammy nomination and selections from the album can often be heard on WCLV. She has studied at CIM with Paul Kantor and now, Joel Smirnoff, CIM President.

On the weekend of March 20th, the young superstar tracked Goulding filled in for the older superstar flutist Sir James Galway with the DSO. The Irish flutist had taken a tumble, injuring hand, wrist and elbow which caused a tour interruption. The teenaged Goulding was chosen to be the sub and did the job. Scott Cantrell of the Dallas Morning News said “In Thursday’s opening performance, at the Meyerson Symphony Center, Goulding brought a slender but gleaming tone and dazzling technique to Mozart’s D major Violin Concerto (K. 218).”

The Powers Series concert will be a benefit for the newly minted Communion of Saints Parish in Cleveland Heights, OH 44118 which is a combination of Saints Ann, Philomena, Louis and Christ the King. Fr. John P. McNulty is the pastor. In anticipation of the upcoming concert, Meg Cosgriff, school Principal, invited Ms. Goulding to give a mini-concert for the students at Saint Ann Grade School. “The students loved her! She was the epitomy of a seasoned classical professional but one with the electric audience appeal of a rock star!” said Bill Laufer.

Tickets are $ 60.00 for adults and $ 30.00 for children and include a pre-concert reception, free parking and one ticket for a raffle to be held during intermission. Prizes for the adult raffle are $ 1000.00 and two $ 500.00 prizes. A children’s raffle will include a first prize of $ 500.00 and two $ 250.00 prizes. Both concert tickets and raffle tickets will be available through the rectory, after all weekend Masses and on line.

The Saint Ann Church campus is located at 2175 Coventry Road Cleveland Heights, OH 44118 USA Renee Barber is Pastoral Minister and Beth Slemenda, Coordinator of Religious Education.
