www.dmcantor.com The trial of self help guru James Arthur Ray started last week with an interesting twist it will be televised live on In Sesion TV. David M Cantor, a Phoenix DUI and Criminal Lawyer, discusses why he feels this is a bad idea in today’s video. Watch the video below and let us know what you think: James Arthur Ray stands accused of multiple manslaughters after three people died at one of Ray’s Sweat Lodge “Spiritual Warrior” events in October of 2009. The participants each paid up to 000 to attend and went without water for two days prior to entering the swelteringly hot lodge. Here is an excerpt from the wikipedia page on James Arthur Ray: On October 8, 2009, at a New Age “Spiritual Warrior” retreat conceived and hosted by Ray at the Angel Valley Retreat Center in Yavapai County near Sedona, Arizona, two participants, James Shore and Kirby Brown, died as a result of being in a sweat lodge exercise. Eighteen others were hospitalized after suffering burns, dehydration, breathing problems, kidney failure or elevated body temperature. Liz Neuman, another attendee, died October 17 after being comatose for a week.[19] The attendees, who had paid up to 000 to participate in the retreat, had fasted for 36 hours during a vision quest exercise before the next day’s sweat lodge. During this vision quest, participants were left alone in the Arizona desert with a sleeping bag, although Ray offered them Peruvian ponchos for an additional 0.[20] After this …

It’s not James Ray fault that people died. People knew what they were getting into. It was Angel Valleys fault they didnt make sure they had the correct ventilation and safety. They are suing the wrong person. People were given ENOUGH water and food.
I do feel sorry 4 the 3 people who died and their families and dont want 2 sound like I dont but I have saw cases with alot stronger evidence end n a not guilty verdict I believe after seeing what the expert witness that the prosecution dropped from their witness list that the sweatlodge wasnt built correctly and James Ray didnt set it up the people at Angel Valley did If I was on the jury I would have 2 have reasonable doubt so far.
I dont blieve this case should have ever even gone 2 trial and 2 me it cant be compared 2 getting on a unsafe bus The people that were taking part n the sweatlodge signed waivers they were adults and apparently pretty succesful adults 2 b able 2 pay $10,000 2 b there After 2day and the mistrial motion because apparently the prosecution tried 2 get away with a little no-no they may have spent all that money trying 2 convict him 4n othing maybe they thought the case was weak? They knew better
Excuse me, but there are many, many videos on YouTube for you to make your evaluation of what Mr Ray is really like. He is obviously just like the way he portrays himself in his books. I don’t see it as such an impossibility that Mr Ray has been set up to be the ‘fall guy’ for Angel Valley
I think that for some reason the media is protecting Ray. People need to know what this man is really like. I hope Ray is convicted. I know it isn’t over yet and at first I had mixed feelings about choice to be there, BUT if I have a choice to ride a bus, the bus is unsafe and I didn’t know it, it was the bus’s companys fault. Same with JRI. He KNEW people could die and WERE dead. I had heard something about this when it happened, but not NEAR the coverage over OJ and Casey before the trial. Why?
The only reason I believe it should be covered on TV is because when you can’t drive that far to see for yourself, that in most cases they leave out in the evening news what REALLY happened. In OJ’s case, I saw so much that the jury wasn’t prevy to and how the prosecutors left out any fact that helped OJ. I saw that trial wasn’t honest, BUT the jurors got it and I’m glad. This case I would believe maybe no cameras, BUT why haven’t we heard as much about James Ray as we did OJ before that trial?
If it’s not true that toxic press wood was used to heat the sweat lodge stones and that the vinyl tarps used on the sweat lodge were stored with rat poison for a year I say we all need to know. Just saying “you are wrong” proves nothing. Angel Valley constructed that death trap. What do sweat lodge experts have to say about the death trap Angel Valley constructed. That I would like to see testimony of and I don’t trust the media to do fair coverage of this even. The trial needs to be televised
There are rumors on the Internet that Mr Ray was set up to be the ‘fall guy’ for Angel Valley. The tarps used to make that sweat lodge a death trap were stored with rat poison for a year before use. Press wood was used to heat the Grandfather Stones and it knows to be toxic when burned!
If a close friend of yours died at that sweat lodge would YOU want the whole truth televised and personally recorded? I’d be willing to invest in 100 blank DVDs for that! You wouldn’t?
I really don’t quite understand you. You boldly say that you didn’t mind the trial you presided over being televised. Well, you should also not mind THIS TRIAL being televised. If the prosecution doesn’t want the trial televised you can bet everything are and own that they feel the truth will indeed hurt their case.
Now, that’s logical. Don’t you agree?
Oh Polk, doesn’t want television coverage? Why? Because the prosecution wants to help Mr Ray? I DON’T THINK SO! If the prosecution is against television coverage so that we can all see the truth instead of reading hearsay then BRING IT ON!!!
LET’S ALL SEE THE TRUTH, THE WHOLE TRUTH AND NOTHING BUT THE TRUTH!!!
Supposedly today, some woman said she only had 10 minutes of training for the sweat lodge event. Hey, if I was supposed to help the people attending the sweat lodge I would have done EXTENSIVE online research. I hear there are actually people who get college degrees online. Imagine that! There is no excuse for only having “10 minutes” of training for such an event! Now, I can understand a 10 minute training review right before the event. That would make sense if they already knew their stuff!
The media only wants to focus on the bad and ignore all the evidence that will find Mr Ray not guilty!
WE NEED TO ALL SEE THAT TRIAL!!
AND NOT DEPEND ON THE MEDIA TO TELL US WHAT IS WHAT!
middleclass ? doesnt he mean working class
Hey atheist. For me the whole Jesus died thing got me to hate myself really significantly because there is this amazing guy who was murdered because something wrong was with me. But for Mr. Hogan it helped him and for me and quite a few others it harmed. Buddhism has transformational tools like deep meditation with affirmations thereby readjusting thermostat. Much Christianity does not give tools much Buddhism does. People step up or they don’t and that’s everywhere. It is a process lifestyle!
Thanks for this — an unexpected treat.
VERY GOOD!!!
My father was a Christian all his life and became an atheist at 60 years old.
yeah this is awesome
James, this is a great interview. you should make this a series. I really have a better understanding of Terry Hogan, wish him the best I truly enjoy listening to all your wisdom and have recently been obsessed with all of your books and dvds. Reaaly liked parallel universes. that quantum physics really gets me thinking. I really want to go a harmonic weekend. Thank you for sharing all your wisdom and insights you really are changing the world. by making us better people. Thank you again!
