FirstGiving Announces Promotional Offering to Celebrate #GivingTuesday
BOSTON, MA (PRWEB) November 26, 2012
FirstGiving, a provider of powerful online tools for nonprofit fundraising events and grassroots fundraising campaigns, has announced that it is an official partner of #GivingTuesday. The company is celebrating the launch of this partnership with a promotional offer to new and existing users of its platform.
FirstGiving has donated 50 online fundraising accounts to 50 nonprofits (an annual subscription valued at $ 500. In addition, new and existing members will benefit from a free day of fundraising for #GivingTuesday and receive consultation from a fundraising specialist. FirstGiving will also provide a platform for members’ #GivingTuesday fundraising efforts with the creation of a branded event page set up by its support team. The event page will allow each organization to tell its history, state its fundraising goals, and promote its efforts on the web through social media. Each member will also receive a social media toolkit that includes sample emails, tweets, and Facebook posts, and a special Facebook cover photo for optimal promotion, and will also be included in a FirstGiving case study on #GivingTuesday. The promotion, which began on November 19th,generated so much demand that all of the available slots were given away to nonprofit organizations prior to the end of the day.
This year marks the first #GivingTuesday, a campaign to create a national day of giving at the annual start of the holiday season. It was initiated by Henry Timms, the executive director of the 92nd street Y, a New York community and cultural center. The day quickly gained endorsements from The United Nations Foundation, United Way, and The Salvation Army. #GivingTuesday is aimed at encouraging charitable activities that support nonprofit organizations.
“FirstGiving is proud to be an official partner of #GivingTuesday,” said FirstGiving CEO Karsten Robbins. “We share its spirit of giving back and are joining in by giving nonprofits and fundraisers the opportunity to expand their fundraising opportunities and make the first #GivingTuesday a successful one.”
FirstGiving aims to provide nonprofits and their supporters the tools to meet and exceed fundraising goals for important causes. Their proprietary fundraising platform enables fundraisers and nonprofits to create web-based fundraising pages that leverage personal networks in support of events, campaigns and causes. Their peer-to-peer fundraising platform can be used by individuals on a grassroots level to raise money for any 501(c)(3) organization and also scales into a one-to-many fundraising and event management application for nonprofit organizations to deploy across a network of engaged supporters. The interface accepts donations made by credit card, which are then aggregated and submitted directly to the charity by FirstGiving via check or direct deposit.
