Hannah Storm “Mixed it Up” with Sports and Media Celebrities; Evening Benefited the Hannah Storm Foundation

Hannah Storm, with the help of some of her good friends from the world of sports and media, successfully “Mixed it Up” to Miami Heat’s D.J. Irie’s soundtrack at the Gerber Group’s Stone Rose Lounge in New York City this past Tuesday evening, September 27, 2011. All enjoyed good eats, a live auction and great tequila from sponsor, Casa Herradura. The celebrity fundraising event benefited the Hannah Storm Foundation, which funds surgeries for children suffering from Vascular Birthmarks and their related medical conditions.
Joining Hannah were top professional athletes and media and sports personalities including: New York Giants greats Antonio Pierce and Jessie Armstead; New Jersey Nets Coach Avery Johnson; Tennis legend Chris Evert; NBA legend Isiah Thomas; former NBA players: Jalen Rose, Jay Williams, Stephen Howard and Tim Legler; former Pittsburgh Steeler Merril Hoge; NBC Golf host Dan Hicks; WNBC’s Janice Huff and Bruce Beck; WCBS’ Lonnie Quinn; CBS News’ Chris Wragge; Cosmopolitan’s Editor-in-Chief, Kate White; and ESPN personalities: Wendi Nix, Kevin Negandhi, Kevin Connors, Michael Wilbon and Ryen Rusillo, Mike Breen and J.A. Adande.
“I was so grateful and honored to mix it up with such a great group of friends to help raise money for a cause very close to my heart,” said Hannah Storm, founder of the Hannah Storm Foundation. “The monies raised will help directly fund surgeries for children with vascular birthmarks who have come to us from all over the world. The support of everyone last night will profoundly change the lives of these children and their families.”
Also part of the evening was a cocktail competition featuring celebrities and mixologists from Casa Herradura. Additionally, there was a spectacular live auction with big ticket items including: a New York Giants experience, dinner at Rao’s prepared in your home, an ESPN behind-the-scenes tour, Caribbean vacation package for family of six to Bimini Bay Resort, tennis and lunch with legend, Chris Evert, and a special “fund-a-need” where guests were able to provide funds directly for surgeries for a two-year old child from the Republic of Georgia.
To date, the Hannah Storm Foundation has funded multiple surgeries for children around the world in conjunction with Dr. Milton Waner through the Vascular Birthmark Institute in New York City and the Center for Vascular Malformation in Children (ZVM) in Berlin, Germany.
About the Hannah Storm Foundation
The Hannah Storm Foundation was created in 2008 to raise awareness, fund treatment and provide educational information for children suffering from debilitating and disfiguring vascular birthmarks. Hannah’s passion stems from being born with a port wine stain birthmark underneath her left eye. Past activities held by HSF include annual Advocacy Day events for families and patients: 2009 Advocacy Day was held at the Brookings Institute in Washington, D.C. and the 2010 Advocacy Day was held at Beth Israel Hospital in New York City; multiple fundraisers including a celebrity evening in 2010 held at Morton’s in Stamford, CT, and working with the Waner Children’s Vascular Anomaly Foundation to affect CPT codes used by insurance companies. HSF also funds the Hannah Storm Journalism Internship at Notre Dame. It was started in 2006 as an opportunity for current Notre Dame undergraduate students to gain practical experience while working in the Alumni Association’s Communications and Marketing department.
